Born Foster Emerson Sylvers on February 25, 1962, he began his career as a child in 1971 and went on to work as a singer, songwriter, record producer and multi-instrumentalist. He was best known for his solo hit “Misdemeanor,” which reached No.
7 on the Billboard R&B chart in 1973, and for joining The Sylvers in time to sing on the group’s 1976 No. 1 hit “Boogie Fever.” He later released additional material under his own name, including a self-titled album in 1978.
