París Galán, a Bolivian drag queen and politician, died on May 30, 2026, at age 58.
Born Carlos Felipe Parra Heredia in Oruro on February 5, 1968, he became widely known as París Galán and was a prominent figure in Bolivia’s LGBT community. A member of the drag collective La Familia Galán, he performed in La Paz and later entered politics, becoming the first openly transgender person to win elective office in Bolivia after his election to the La Paz Departmental Assembly.
He was also identified with LGBT rights and HIV/AIDS awareness efforts and was known as one of the country’s best-known drag queens.
