DJ Dan American house music DJ and producer, heart attack dead at age 57

DJ Dan, the American house music DJ and producer born Daniel Wherrett, died in March 2026 at the age of 57.

Born in Olympia, Washington, in 1968 and raised in Lacey, Washington, he moved to Seattle in the late 1980s to study fashion and there discovered electronic dance music at clubs including The Underground. He moved to Los Angeles in 1991, later played events with Ron D Core, and went on to San Francisco in 1993, where he joined Funky Tekno Tribe.

In 1996, he partnered with Jim Hopkins as Electroliners and released “Loose Caboose,” which was picked up by several prominent DJs.

Daniel Wherrett (July 8, 1968 – March 2026), known by his stage name DJ Dan, was an American house DJ and producer.
