
Claire Maurier, the French actress known for La Cage aux Folles, Amélie and A Bad Son, died on May 3, 2026, at the age of 97.
Born Odette-Michelle-Suzanne Agramon in Céret, Pyrénées-Orientales, France, on March 27, 1929, she began acting in small film roles in the late 1940s and went on to appear in more than 90 films from 1947 to 2013. Among her notable early performances were Gilberte Doinel, the mother of the main character in François Truffaut’s 1959 film The 400 Blows, and Christiane Colombey in the 1963 film La Cuisine au beurre.
