Born Vincent Belorgey in Paris in 1975, he performed and recorded under the name Kavinsky and also worked as a producer, singer and actor. His music, rooted in French house and synthwave, drew on 1980s film-soundtrack textures, and he said his approach came from distilling ideas from the movies he had watched as a boy.
He began his career in 1997 and reached wider recognition when “Nightcall” was used in the 2011 film Drive. His debut album, OutRun, appeared in 2013, and he was also known for the earlier track “Odd Look.”
