Born Vincent Belorgey in Paris in 1975, he performed and recorded under the name Kavinsky and also worked as a producer, singer and actor. His music, rooted in French house and synthwave, drew on 1980s film-soundtrack textures, and he said his approach came from distilling ideas from the movies he had watched as a boy.
