Cândido Mota Portuguese radio announcer, television presenter, and actor dead at age 82

Cândido Mota, Portuguese radio announcer, television presenter, and actor, died on May 3, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born Cândido Soares Pinto da Mota on September 28, 1943, he began working in radio at 17 at Rádio Clube Português and later achieved his greatest success at RDP – Rádio Comercial. He became known for hosting Em Órbita and for O Passageiro da Noite, one of the first interactive broadcasts in Portuguese radio, as well as programs including Fonografias and Dançatlântico.

He also collaborated with Herman José and appeared as a voice-over on the RTP game shows A Roda da Sorte and Com a Verdade M’ Enganas during the 1990s.
