
Hany Shaker, the Egyptian singer, actor and composer, died on May 3, 2026, at age 73.
Born Hany Abdel Aziz Shaker in Cairo on December 21, 1952, he began his musical career at an early age, learning the piano as a child. His first public appearance was singing with Abd El Halim Hafez Choral Group in “Sora,” and he later played the young Sayed Darwish in the film Sayed Darwish.
After studying music at the Cairo Conservatoire, he had a breakthrough in December 1972 with “Heloua ya Dounia,” written by Mohammed El Mougi.
