Saeed, whose full name was Anbar Saeed Maqroun, represented Kuwait internationally and was part of the team that won silver at the 1982 Asian Games. He also played at the 1988 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar, and his final appearance for the national side came at the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing.

At club level, he played for Al-Arabi in the 1980s, making his debut under Scottish manager Dave Mackay, and later continued his career in Oman.
