
Allan Legere, a Canadian serial killer, died on March 9, 2026, in custody in Edmonton, Alberta, at age 78.
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, in 1948, he was also known as the Monster of the Miramichi. In 1986, he took part in a home invasion in Black River Bridge, New Brunswick, that ended with the death of John Glendenning and the sexual assault of Mary Glendenning, and he was sentenced to prison.
In 1989, Legere escaped custody while receiving care in a nearby hospital and went on to attack people over several months, killing four. He was later recaptured and convicted of the subsequent murders.
