Alex Manninger

Alex Manninger, an Austrian footballer and goalkeeper, died on April 16, 2026.

He was 48. Manninger played internationally for the Austria national team on 33 occasions, including at UEFA Euro 2008, and represented clubs in Italy, Germany, Austria and England.

He began his career as a youth player for SV Salzburg in 1993 and was promoted to the first-team squad in 1995–96. After a loan spell at Vorwärts Steyr, he joined Grazer AK in 1996 before moving to Arsenal in the Premier League, where he was understudy to David Seaman.
