Born Bradford Alexander Halsey in Houston on February 14, 1981, he attended Westfield High School before continuing his career at Hill College and the University of Texas at Austin. The New York Yankees selected him in the eighth round of the 2002 Major League Baseball draft, and he went on to appear in the majors for New York in 2004, the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2005 and the Oakland Athletics in 2006.
