
The 128th Georgia General Assembly, an American political body, died on February 6, 2026.
It convened its first session on January 13, 1965, at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta, succeeding the 127th Georgia General Assembly and serving as the precedent for the 129th in 1967. During its term, Governor Carl Sanders spearheaded a major reapportionment of Georgia’s General Assembly and 10 U.S.
Congressional districts, and the assembly also addressed the political changes that followed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
