Bruno Parma Slovene journalist dead at age 84

Bruno Parma, a Slovene journalist and chess player, died on February 6, 2026, at age 84.

Born in Ljubljana on December 30, 1941, Parma first played in the World Junior Chess Championship in 1959, sharing second place, and won the Junior Championship in The Hague in 1961, which earned him the title of International Master. FIDE awarded him the grandmaster title in 1963 after his performance at the Beverwijk tournament.

He later finished joint second at San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1969 and shared first place with Georgi Tringov at Vršac in 1973.

Bruno Parma (30 December 1941 – 6 February 2026) was a Slovene-Yugoslav chess player and Grandmaster.
