John Burton, a British political agent and Labour Party councillor, died on February 6, 2026.
He served on Sedgefield Borough Council, representing the ward of Fishburn and Old Trimdon in County Durham, England. Burton was also the constituency agent of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in Sedgefield, and was described as one of the first to see Blair’s potential.
In 2007, The Observer reported that Burton planned to write a book about Blair’s faith, though it did not materialise.
