Wolfgang Gust, a German journalist and author, died on June 9, 2026, at the age of 91.

Born in Hanover on January 1, 1935, he worked for Spiegel-Verlag and spent much of his career at Der Spiegel, joining the magazine in 1965. He began as an economics editor, later moved to foreign affairs, served as chief correspondent in Paris from 1970, became deputy foreign editor in 1977 and headed the books department from 1981.

Gust also wrote on the Armenian genocide, examining German Foreign Office documents and publishing original texts and translations along with identified alterations.
