Willie Knox public figure dead at age 88

Willie Knox

Willie Knox, the Scottish football player and manager, died on January 7, 2026.

Born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, on September 9, 1937, he played as a wing half for Raith Rovers, Forfar Athletic and Barrow. He began his senior career with Raith Rovers in 1955 after playing junior football with Annbank United.

Knox later went on to a managerial career with Auchinleck Talbot, where he served from 1977 to 1993 and won the Scottish Junior Cup five times, including three consecutive victories.

William Jess Knox (9 September 1937 – January 2026) was a Scottish football player and manager, who played as a wing half. As a player, he appeared in the Scottish Football League for Raith Rovers and Forfar Athletic and in the Football League for Barrow. He went on to have a successful managerial career in Scottish junior football with Auchinleck Talbot, winning the Scottish Junior Cup five times, including three consecutive wins.
