Vladimir Ovchinnikov, the Russian painter, ethnographer and social activist, died on May 13, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born in Dushanbe in 1938, he graduated from Moscow State University of Civil Engineering and worked on construction sites and in scientific work. A Candidate of Economic Sciences, he lived in Moscow until 1998, when he retired and settled in Borovsk, Kaluga Oblast.
He later became known as the founder of the wall painting of the city of Borovsk.
