McDonnell, an American Roman Catholic prelate, died on March 4, 2026, at the age of 88. He served as bishop of the Diocese of Springfield in Massachusetts from 2004 to 2014 and as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of New York from 2001 to 2004.

Born in New York City on December 23, 1937, he studied at Cathedral College in Queens and St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, where he earned a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in 1959.

Timothy Anthony McDonnell (December 23, 1937 – March 4, 2026) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as bishop of the Diocese of Springfield in Massachusetts from 2004 to 2014 and as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of New York from 2001 to 2004.
