Tadateru Konoe, the Japanese humanitarian who served as president of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies from 2009 to 2017, died on May 23, 2026.

He was 87. Konoe also served as president of the Japanese Red Cross Society, and his work was closely tied to domestic and international Red Cross and Red Crescent activities.
