Parviz Ghelichkhani, the Iranian footballer who played for Taj and Persepolis and captained the national team, died on May 23, 2026.
He was 80. Ghelichkhani was an Iranian–French player who was based in France and later worked as the editor and publisher of a political magazine.
He was widely regarded as one of the leading figures of Iran’s national team in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
