Soli Philander, a South African actor, comedian, director, television presenter and radio personality, died on March 4, 2026, aged 65.

Born Silamour Philander on January 19, 1961, in Elsie’s River on the Cape Flats in Cape Town, he became known for his work in South African media and theater, and for his advocacy and performance of Kaapse culture and the Kaaps dialect. He also presented major television programs, including the local version of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

and Let’s Make a Deal.
