Pedro Ramayá Beltrán, a Colombian caña de millo player and songwriter, died on April 11, 2026, at age 96.

Born Pedro Agustín Beltrán Castro on February 5, 1930, in Patico, Talaigua Nuevo, in Colombia’s Bolívar department, he was known for his skill on the flauta de millo. He was a member of Efraín Mejía’s band La Cumbia Soledeña and later led his own group, La Cumbia Moderna de Soledad.

He learned the instrument as a child and formed his first band at age 12.
