Norma Yaeger dead at age 96, American stockbroker

Norma Yaeger, an American stockbroker and businesswoman, died on June 3, 2026, at age 96.

Born Norma Hason on May 5, 1930, in Brooklyn, she became a trailblazer in the brokerage industry. In 1962, she was the first woman to enroll in Hornblower & Weeks’ stockbroker training program and later won the right to join male trainees on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, where women had previously been barred.

After the passage of New York’s affirmative action bill AB-1933, she founded Yaeger Capital Markets in 1991. She also held licenses from the NYSE, NASD, the Chicago Board of Options and the Commodity Exchange, and wrote Breaking Down the Wall.
