Annette Saint-Pierre, a Canadian educator, writer and publisher, died on September 1, 2026, at age 101.
Born in Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, Quebec, she studied at the Scolasticat Saint-Joseph in Saint-Hyacinthe and at the University of Ottawa. She taught elementary and high school in Manitoba from 1950 to 1970 before joining Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface in 1970 as a professor of Canadian literature, where she helped establish the first university-level course in the field.
Saint-Pierre was also a founding member of the Centre d’études Franco-canadiennes de l’Ouest in 1978, later served as a director of the Regroupement des centres d’études au Canada, and helped found the Franco-Manitoban publishing houses Éditions du Blé and Éditions des Plaines. She was named a Member of the Order of Canada.
