Lilia Lardone, the Argentine writer who focused on children’s and young adult literature, died on August 31, 2026, aged 84.
Born in Hernando, Córdoba, she moved to Córdoba city at 14 to train as a teacher and later studied modern literature at the National University of Córdoba. Before turning to writing professionally in her 50s, she worked in the Department of Culture in Córdoba, where she organized community events and led writing workshops from the 1980s.
Her first novel, Puertas adentro, appeared in 1998, and she also published poetry and nonfiction.
