Maurice Freund, a French tourism personality and entrepreneur associated with Point Air, died on May 9, 2026, at age 82.
He was known for writing about his travels and sustainable development, and for developing charters in the 1970s aimed at making air travel more affordable. Born in Guebwiller on July 15, 1943, Freund was the only son of Auguste Freund.
He was expelled from school at 14, worked in the same potash mine as his mother, and later trained as an electrician.
