Craig Morton, the American football player best known for his time with the Denver Broncos, died on May 9, 2026, at age 83.
Born in Flint, Michigan, on February 5, 1943, Morton was a quarterback in the National Football League for 18 seasons, primarily with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos. He played college football for the California Golden Bears, earned All-American honors, and was selected by the Cowboys with the fifth overall pick in the 1965 NFL draft.
Morton was the first starting quarterback to appear in the Super Bowl with more than one franchise, helping lead the Cowboys to Super Bowl V and the Broncos to Super Bowl XII. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1992.
