Masahiro Futahashi, a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat, died June 8, 2026, at age 84.

He served twice as deputy chief cabinet secretary, from 2003 to 2006 and again from 2007 to 2008, in the administrations of Junichiro Koizumi and Yasuo Fukuda. Born in Toyama Prefecture on December 27, 1941, Futahashi studied law at the University of Tokyo before joining the Ministry of Home Affairs in 1964.

He later rose to administrative vice minister of the ministry from 1999 to 2001. He was awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun.
