Maroof Raza, an Indian Army officer and commentator on national security and strategic affairs, died on February 26, 2026, aged 66.
He served in the Indian Army from 1980 to 1994, including with the Grenadiers and the Mechanised Infantry Regiment, and later was appointed an instructor at the Indian Military Academy. Raza had experience in counter-insurgency operations and spent more than 20 years as a mentor, anchor, correspondent, lecturer, writer and commentator on issues of national security and strategic affairs.
He was educated at Mayo College, Ajmer; St Stephen’s College, Delhi; King’s College London; and Cambridge University.
