George Kenneth Smith CBE, a Scottish international rugby union player and former president of the Scottish Rugby Union, died on February 26, 2026, aged 96.
Born in Edinburgh on June 2, 1929, he played at flanker and was educated at George Watson’s College. Smith played club rugby for Watsonians and Kelso and represented South of Scotland District in the 1956–57 and 1957–58 Scottish Inter-District Championships.
He later became the 108th President of the Scottish Rugby Union.
