Bjarte Baasland, a Norwegian businessman and convicted fraudster, died on February 26, 2026, at the age of 51.
Born in Norway on March 5, 1974, he became widely known in Norway in connection with the Baasland case in 2008, when it was revealed that he had gambled away almost 60 million kr borrowed from family friends and banks. In 2009, he was convicted of fraud and sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to repay NOK 26.6 million.
