Karl Dempwolf, a Dutch–American painter known for his California landscape works, died on February 26, 2026, at age 86.
Born in Delmenhorst, Germany, on December 17, 1939, he spent the war years in Bavaria before immigrating to the United States with his family in 1954. Dempwolf later became a contemporary California Plein-Air painter, was a Signature Member of the California Art Club, and served on its Advisory Board of Directors.
