Ahmed Nimal, a Maldivian actor, director, editor, writer and producer, died on February 26, 2026, at the age of 62.
Born on January 13, 1963, in the Sultanate of the Maldive Islands, he began his career at the Maldives Meteorological Service office before his interest in films and acting grew through the influence of colleagues including Easa Shareef and other friends involved in theatre. Nimal made his film debut in Nufoozu (1984), after being asked to take the lead role.
He later worked as a full-time actor and led the organization Dhivehi Harakaaiy Jamiyya with Shareef.
