Marilyn Slaby, an American politician and teacher who represented Ohio’s 41st District in the state House, died October 22, 2026, aged 86.
A Republican, she served the district in 2004 and returned after her appointment in 2012, remaining in the House through 2018. Born in Akron on November 19, 1939, Slaby graduated from Heidelberg College and worked as an educator for much of her life.
Her public service also included ten years on the Summit County Board of Elections. In Republican Party work, she served as vice-chair of the Summit County Central Committee and was an elected member of the Republican State Central Committee. Slaby also owned multiple small businesses. She was married to Lynn Slaby, a former Ohio representative, and they had three children and four grandchildren. Her career brought together work in education, election administration, state government, party organization and business ownership.
