Marcel Niat Njifenji, a Cameroonian politician and president of the Senate from 2013 to 2026, died on April 11, 2026.
He was 91. Born in Bangangté on 26 October 1934, he also served as mayor of Bangangté from 2002 to 2007.
A member of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, Niat Njifenji had earlier worked as director-general of the National Electricity Company and held ministerial posts in the early 1990s.
