Born in L’Alcúdia on December 18, 1942, he also worked as a printmaker, illustrator and engraver, and studied at the Reial Acadèmia de Belles Arts de Sant Carles de València in Valencia. Boix received Spain’s National Award for Plastic Arts in 1980 and was widely recognized for his etchings, including illustrations for the four-volume edition of Tirant lo Blanc.
