Philippe Huet, the French journalist and writer who served as deputy editor-in-chief of Paris-Normandie, died on September 23, 2026, aged 84.
Born in Le Havre on April 24, 1942, he studied for three years at the École supérieure de journalisme de Paris before joining Le Havre Presse and later moving to the Paris-Normandie newsroom, where he worked as a reporter for 15 years covering major events including presidential visits, the Tour de France, wars such as the conflict in Lebanon, major trials and the sinking of the Amoco Cadiz. In 1989, he left the newspaper to pursue a literary career, sometimes working with his wife, Élizabeth Coquart, on documentaries, biographies, noir fiction and social novels.
