Louis Caron, the Canadian journalist, writer and screenwriter best known for co-creating and writing the television drama series He Shoots, He Scores, died on September 14, 2026, of a heart attack, aged 84.
Born in Sorel-Tracy on July 21, 1942, he worked as a journalist for Radio-Canada and Le Nouvelliste before publishing his first novel, L’Illusioniste, in 1973. His fiction included The Draft Dodger (L’Emmitouflé), which won the Prix Québec-Paris in 1977, as well as Le canard de bois and Les fils de la liberté II: La corne de brume, both finalists for the Governor General’s Award for French-language fiction.
Caron also published novels and essays, and was named a Knight of the National Order of Quebec.
