Catherine Ringer, the French singer and musician best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of Les Rita Mitsouko, died on September 14, 2026, aged 68.
Born in Suresnes on October 18, 1957, she began her professional career on stage in the late 1970s and later worked across singing, songwriting, composition, dance and choreography. In 1979, she met Fred Chichin, with whom she founded Les Rita Mitsouko; after his death in 2007, she continued to lead the group.
Ringer was also a daughter of artist Sam Ringer and later served as the lead vocalist of Plaza Francia Orchestra.
