Leatherbury, an American racehorse trainer, died on February 10, 2026, at the age of 92. Born King Taylor Leatherbury on March 26, 1933, in Shady Side, Maryland, he was a Thoroughbred trainer who ranked fifth all-time in wins among U.S.
trainers. Leatherbury graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in business administration before choosing a career in Thoroughbred racing. He won his first race in 1959 at Florida’s Sunshine Park and made his reputation at racetracks in Maryland.
