Tessa Richards Physician dead at age 75

Tessa Richards, a British physician, died on February 10, 2026, at the age of 75.

Born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England, on July 30, 1950, she studied at Bruton School for Girls in Somerset and medicine at the University of Leeds and Guy’s Hospital Medical School in London, graduating in 1973. In 1993, she joined the BMJ as assistant editor and worked there until 2023, later heading its patient partnership strategy as a senior editor.

She married Charles Smallwood, a solicitor, in 1985.

Tessa Richards (30 July 1950 – 10 February 2026) was a British physician.
