Born Kenji Takahashi in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan, he was known professionally as Kenji Ohba and had an acting career that lasted from 1965 to 2026. He was best known for his roles in the Super Sentai and Metal Heroes series, including Retsu Ichijouji/Gavan in the 1982 television series Space Sheriff Gavan, Shiro Akebono/Battle Kenya in Battle Fever J, and Daigoro Oume/DenziBlue in Denshi Sentai Denjiman.
