Käthe Menzel-Jordan, a German architect and preservationist, died on March 1, 2026.
Born Käthe Hertel in Erfurt on September 7, 1916, she worked mainly on restoring historic buildings in Erfurt and the surrounding region after the destruction of World War II. Her projects included the Goethe House in Weimar and the Augustinerkloster and Schloss Molsdorf in Erfurt.
She studied architecture and art history at the Technische Hochschule Dresden in the 1930s and later turned to business and technical administration during the war.
