Daniel, an American engineer, died on September 3, 2026, aged 92. Also known as Isaac Mordochai Daniel, he was a Greek–American engineer and professor whose work centered on composite materials, nondestructive evaluation and related areas.
Daniel studied at the National Technical University of Athens before earning a B.S. in civil engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1957, followed by an M.S. in 1959 and a Ph.D. in 1964. He remained at IIT after completing his doctorate, where he managed the ITT Research Institute and taught as a professor. In 1982 he joined Northwestern University, serving as Walter P. Murphy professor and director of the Center for Intelligent Processing of Composites; he later became professor emeritus there.
