He represented the Noor and Mahmoudabad constituency in the Iranian parliament across seven terms, serving in the first, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth Majles after first entering through a 1981 by-election in which he succeeded his brother, Abbasali Nategh-Nouri. He also headed Iran’s boxing federation from its resumption in 1989, after the ban on the sport was lifted, until 2017.
The elder brother of conservative figure Ali Akbar Nategh-Nouri, he later served on the board of Saipa Assistance Company in 2005.
