A political and media activist who lived in Europe, Tehrani became involved in politics during his youth. At 12, guided by his uncle, he became acquainted with the circles and ideas of the Tudeh Party; later, while in high school, he took part in political and social activities.
At 18, he joined the Tudeh Party’s youth organization. Tehrani also supported the Kurdish movement and was a close friend of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran. In an account of an attack on the Iranian Embassy in Switzerland, he acknowledged that letters bearing the embassy’s official letterhead were taken and one was forged. The fabricated letter purported to show that SAVAK was conducting extensive espionage against Iranian students in Europe and the United States. The use of official letterhead was intended to make the false document appear to be genuine embassy correspondence.
