Giorgio Mendella, an Italian telecommunications executive and fraudster, died on February 20, 2026.
Born in Monza and later based in Viareggio, he was a businessman, sports manager and self-taught student of computer science and economics. He graduated as an electrical engineer and began his career as a delivery boy at an art gallery, later appearing on Bergamo TV to handle television sales of paintings and other works of art.
His fortunes grew in the late 1980s with the creation of his own TV channel, Retemia.
