Dean Tavoularis, the American production designer known for The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and Bonnie and Clyde, died on April 22, 2026, at age 93.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on May 18, 1932, he grew up in Los Angeles and studied architecture and painting at art schools before joining Disney Studios as an in-betweener and later a storyboard artist. He began working in film in 1967 and remained active through 2026, working on more than 30 films.

Tavoularis received five Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction and won for The Godfather Part II.
