Born Gary Stephen Anderson in Melbourne, he began his career in 1971 and became the longest-tenured remaining member of the hard rock band from 1976. He also sang with Buster Brown and The Party Boys, and as a solo artist was noted for the 1987 single “Suddenly.” Anderson was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1993 for his work as a youth advocate.
