Yaya Ceesay, Gambian politician and member of parliament, died on May 2, 2026, in Kanifing, The Gambia, aged 88–89.
A member of the People’s Progressive Party, he served as Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources from 1968 to 1969 and again from 1974 to 1978. He was also a member of the House of Representatives from 1960 to 1994.
